Unofficial Polls

I linked 3 polls in the races that I’m most interested in on the sidebar to the right. I will leave these up until November 3rd. (Sorry to the two people that voted while I was still adjusting the settings… however those two people will need to recast their vote if they chose to have it counted)

I have made it so that each person from an IP address can only vote once. (Sorry in advance to those families that have multiple voters using the same computer… this is not a scientific poll so don’t get bent out of shape if someone at your location has already voted in this poll)

Thanks for participating.

Big Island Mayoral Debate this Wednesday August 13th.

I’m amazed no one has really said anything about this debate coming up. Other then this little snippet in the WHT.

It’s not even listed on the KIAA website?

Only leading mayoral candidates were invited recently to participate in Hilo-area debates organized by the Kanoelehua Industrial Area Association, which is on Aug. 13

Big Island Needs to Put on it’s Smiling Faces During the Week of September 15th – 19th

A group of women professionals, the Women In Tourism International Alliance, who are promoters of tourism industry throughout the world, will be conferencing on the Big Island from Sept. 15th – 19th.

They will be staying at Uncle Billys in Hilo, the Royal Kona Resort, and the Hilton Waikoloa. I would imagine that many recommendations for Big Island vacations might be made from this group of visitors that are coming in.

Put on your Happy Face :)

…The itinerary is designed especially for WITIA members and during the 5 day Educational we will visit all the highlights on this incredibly diverse island paradise. You will have the chance to meet like-minded colleagues and renew old friendships whilst enjoying the social events planned for you and, at the same time, experience all the unique attractions on the Big Island….

Energy Consumption, Utilities, and Capita… Something Has to Give

Hawaii is the most expensive state to live in and pay Utilities.

Despite the fact that, per capita, energy consumption in Hawaii is among the lowest in the nation.

What gives?

We need to really think about alternative energy solutions now!

Homeowners Insurance Company Looking to Expand to Hawaii

Universal Insurance Holdings announce today that they are looking to expand into the Hawaii market in the next six months.

“….The Company remains committed to its growth plan and we are pleased to have been recently admitted to write property and casualty insurance in South Carolina. Furthermore, we are optimistic that we will receive our licenses for Texas, Hawaii, Georgia, and North Carolina over the next six months….”

One more option for people is good for everyone.

Mayor Harry Kim Suffers Heart Attack

A posting on Punaweb alerted me to this dreadful headline.

According to a poster over there, it occurred yesterday, and he is at Queens on Oahu.

Hope he is doing well.

*update* The Starbulletin has a breaking story with more details now.

Hilo Boy Po’ai Suganuma in Main Event of Showtimes MMA Event Friday

Po’ai Suganuma, who I happened to coach wresting to for a year at Waiakea, will be in the Main Event of next weeks XCElite MMA event that will be broadcast on Showtime.

He’s been doing pretty good and has compiled a 9-1 record going into Friday’s match up.

Clothing Optional Beaches Ranked… Kehena Snuffed

Maui’s Little Beach was recently ranked 6th in a recent Top 10 lists of clothes optional places.

So call this the list of list. It doesn’t claim to be scienfitic, but last time I checked no one was doing scientific research on nude beach lists…
