Big Island Police Arrest Fourth Suspect in Connection with Kona Robbery

Hawaiʻi County police have arrested and charged a fourth suspect in connection with a robbery in a parking lot at Aliʻi Sunset Plaza in the early morning of November 26.

At 2:25 a.m. Tuesday (December 18), police arrested 22-year-old Kekoa Duguran of Kailua-Kona. At 6 p.m., Duguran was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and third-degree theft. He was held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $76,000 bail pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Wednesday (December 19).

A 26-year-old Kealakekua man reported that after he met a local man at a bar, the man took him to the northwest corner of the parking lot to meet with five or six males. They punched and kicked the victim and stole his backpack before fleeing on foot.

The victim was treated at Kona Community Hospital for a fractured jaw and minor cuts and scrapes.

Police continue to ask for help from anyone who witnessed the attack or saw the victim talking with a local male in the Coconut Grove area. The victim was wearing shorts and a striped tank top and was carrying a backpack.

At 12:40 p.m. Tuesday (December 11), police arrested 21-year-old Kainoa Bryan of Kealakekua. At 4 p.m. Wednesday (December 12), Bryan was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, fourth-degree theft, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $80,000 bail pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Thursday (December 13).

At 11:20 a.m. Monday, detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section arrested 21-year-old Alexander Miller of Kailua-Kona. At 7 p.m., Miller was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and third-degree theft. He was held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $15,500 bail pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Tuesday (November 4).

Hawaiʻi County police have charged a Kona man with three offenses in connection with a robbery in a parking lot at Aliʻi Sunset Plaza early Monday morning.

At 7:15 p.m. Wednesday (November 28), detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section charged 20-year-old Alexander Cho with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and third-degree theft. He was held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $77,000 bail pending his initial court appearance scheduled for today.

Hawaiʻi County police have arrested a Kona man on suspicion of robbery and are asking for the public’s help in identifying other suspects.

At 12:27 a.m. Monday, Kona patrol offices responded to a report of a robbery in a parking lot at Aliʻi Sunset Plaza. A 26-year-old Kealakekua man reported that after he met a local man at bar, the man took him to the northwest corner of the parking lot to meet with five or six males. They punched and kicked the victim and stole his backpack before fleeing on foot.

The victim was treated at Kona Community Hospital for a fractured jaw and minor cuts and scrapes.

Police investigation led to the identity of a possible suspect. At 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, police arrested 20-year-old Alexander Cho, who has no permanent address but frequents Kailua-Kona. He is being held at the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continue the investigation.
