HI-PAL “Click it or Ticket” Pahoa 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

The East Hawaii Police Activities League (HI-PAL) “Click it or Ticket” 3 on 3 basketball tournament was held at the Pahoa High School Gymnasium today.

Officer Joseph “Joey” Botelho coordinated the days events.

The morning began with Officer Joey Botelho talking to the kids about the importance of using your seat belt and other dangers such as using drugs.

It was a double elimination tournament and about 15 teams entered from the ages of 5 – 12 years old.

The Keaau Chargers had multiple teams entered into the tournament

Medals were given out to the top three places in each of the age divisions:

First Place in their age division was the “Lil Titans #1” (Left to Right) Dylan Villanueva, Brady Yamada, Orrin Yamada and Coach Donald Yamada

My son didn’t make any baskets in the make shift hoops that they use for his age division.

It’s the thought that counts!

But he did manage to score at least one “Block”!

My sons team that he played on today got third place which was good enough for a medal.

I’d like to thank all the folks that came out to support this event.  All the kids were winners in the long run!

2011 T-Ball Kicks Off at Walter Victor Stadium

Today began the official start of the 2011 T-ball season and my sons team the Keaau Chargers played two games at a “sold out” Walter Victor Stadium.

My son was selected as one of the captains for the first game and they won the toss electing to bat first.

He was also the pitcher for his team, however, at this level they don’t use the pitcher as a pitcher just yet… more like a short stop!

It was a great game played between two great teams and at this level… no one really keeps score and the idea is just to have fun.

At the end of the game my son lead a small cheer for the other the team…

Congratulations to the Keaau Chargers and the Waiakea Pirates for a game well played.

Fun in the Sun Features Keaau Chargers vs. Puna Dodgers

Well today the East Hawaii Academy of Sports presented a “Fun in the Sun” day at Shipman Park in Keaau.

There was laser tag

a climbing wall

a jumping castle

a hamster ball

Keiki Hula Halau’s

The Zoo Choo train was on hand as well

But the real highlight of the day, at least for me, was watching the Keaau Chargers vs. Puna Dodgers T-ball teams play a “Good-Will Exhibition Game” game to start off the 2011 T-Ball Season.

My son played pitcher for the first couple innings.

and was the lead off batter

He managed to score 3 runs today!

I’d like to thank the folks of the East Hawaii Academy of Sports for putting on such a great event today.

Ohana Fun Days Features the Keaau Chargers vs. the Puna Dodgers

Yesterday was another Ohana Fun Days sponsored by a lot of folks.

I’d like to personally say thanks to Fred Blas and the Hawaiian Beaches Action Team for contributing prizes for the kids.

My son was selected as a captain for the game!

It was pretty exciting as the kids even had someone that was trying their best to announce the game over a PA system.

The Keaau Chargers

Here my son hits a single:

It was a great game and at this age… I don’t even think the score is that important.
