Well once again I’m getting threatened by an attorney for something that seems ridiculous and I will ask this question now… Is taking photographs of cars and the signs that are on them illegal?
Earlier today, as I do on many Wednesdays, I posted a post entitled: “Wordless Wednesday – I Lost My Implants…” where I simply stated: “I saw this truck parked at Island Naturals in Pahoa on the Big Island yesterday:” and then posted a picture of a truck that I saw parked at Island Naturals in Pahoa.
This afternoon I received an email from Honolulu Law firm WILLIAM J. NAGLE III, ESQ., Roeca Luria & Hiraoka LLP stating:
Mr. Tucker:
This firm represents Dr. *********** in the matter of the photograph of the sign displayed on your blog dated 1/29/14. We request that the photograph be removed from your blog (damontucker.com) as the contents of the sign are offensive to our client. Because your blog is widely read on the Big Island, the photograph of the sign has disappointed and upset Dr. *********.
Mahalo for your kokua in this matter.
Well I don’t know what I should do really and feel that I have every right to post pictures I take in public. I was just posting an observation I saw and really wasn’t making any statement other then it was “Wordless” in a sense.
I’ve left the blog post up… but have now removed the Doctors name from the picture.
IS PHOTOGRAPHY A CRIME? Here is the incriminating photograph… minus the doctors name:

I’m always browsing the free stuff on Craigslist and this ad kind of had me laughing:
Camper Top, been sitting under weeds for a while, window hinges broken … still seems solid … come pull it down and it’s yours… http://honolulu.craigslist.org/big/zip/4027984164.html

Earlier today I saw a Coast Guard helicopter flying around the Kapoho area of the Big Island. I’ve tried to contact the Coast Guard to see what it was about but I just received an answering machine.
Here is a picture I took from my iPhone. You can just barely make out the helicopter:
Anyone know what was going on?

Working at the limits of what can easily be expressed, filmmaker Peter Mettler takes on the elusive subject of time, and once again turns his camera to filming the unfilmmable.
From the particle accelerator in Switzerland, where scientists seek to probe regions of time we cannot see, to lava flows in Hawaii which have overwhelmed all but one home on the south side of Big Island; from the disintegration of inner city Detroit, to a Hindu funeral rite near the place of Buddha’s enlightenment, Mettler explores our perception of time. He dares to dream the movie of the future while also immersing us in the wonder of the everyday.
THE END OF TIME, at once personal, rigorous and visionary, Peter Mettler has crafted a film as compelling and magnificent as its subject.

Wordless Wednesday and the world has gone crazy over Korean singer PSY and his Gangnam Style song. This is how some folks decided to do it over on Oahu.

Not all of the world’s wonders can be as cute as the koala or graceful as the gazelle. Today we’re celebrating Hagfish Day, the annual event to honor the denizens of the deep that may be seaworthy, but aren’t so see-worthy. As fantastic as they are repulsive, these marine misfits are marvels of evolutionary ingenuity.
Slime, or mucus is used by many animals both on land and in the sea, but Hagfish have the outstanding ability to defend themselves by producing an incredible slime when touched.
It comes from the glands along the side of their body, and within minutes literally liters of it can be produced. Despite being one of the most primitive vertebrates alive, this rare species is certainly strange and wonderful! Our oceans harbor amazing species that despite being a bit weird, are still worth protecting.

I heard one of my dogs barking profusely yesterday and I went out to see why he was trying to get underneath my car. I figured a cat must have been trapped under there… but boy was I shocked when I saw that Maka had found himself a Jackson Chameleon and he was set on getting it!
The chameleon ran out the other side of the car… but Maka quickly figured it out and stopped him in his tracks.
The chameleon ran back underneath my car… so I figured instead of just sitting there and letting my dog bark his head off until he caught the damn thing… I figured I would tie up my dog and then let the buggah run off on his own.
